Cohesive Society CIC Sponsors Friendly Football Match to Celebrate “Walk to Be Healthy”

Cohesive Society CIC is delighted to sponsor and support a friendly community football match taking place on Sunday, 21 June 2026, at 1:30 PM, at the Riverside Campus of the University of Northampton, NN1 5PH. Free parking will be available for visitors and participants.
This special match is being organised by the Northampton Bangladeshi Business Chamber — NBCC — in association with Cohesive Society CIC, bringing together local people, community groups, sports lovers, families and supporters for an afternoon of friendship, fitness and community celebration.
The football match marks the final gala event of Cohesive Society CIC’s year-long “Walk to Be Healthy” programme, which was generously funded by Sport England. Over the past year, many local participants have taken part in regular walking activities designed to encourage healthier lifestyles, reduce isolation and support physical and mental wellbeing.

We are immensely thankful to Sport England for enabling us to deliver this meaningful and inclusive programme. Their support has helped local people become more active, more confident and more connected with others in the wider community.
This friendly match is more than just a sporting occasion. It is a celebration of community spirit. It offers people the chance to socialise, communicate, mingle with wider society and enjoy a positive afternoon in a welcoming environment. Events like this play a vital role in reducing loneliness, boosting mental health, and encouraging people to move away from sedentary lifestyles.
Many of the players taking part in the match are participants from our walking programme, making the occasion even more special. After walking together for many months, they will now come together on the football field to celebrate friendship, teamwork and good health.
At Cohesive Society CIC, we believe that sport, walking, community gatherings and social interaction can transform lives. They bring people out of isolation, create new friendships, strengthen confidence and inspire individuals to take up exercise, games and healthier routines.

Join us as a volunteer.
We warmly invite the wider community to attend, support the players and enjoy this friendly football afternoon with us. Let us come together, celebrate wellbeing, and continue building a healthier, stronger and more cohesive Northamptonshire
